Holiday Tips and Tricks

Since you’ve been spending so much time homebound, you’re well ahead on your holiday decorating, right? Well, maybe not.  Maybe you are in such a funk that you are having a brain freeze concerning the holidays. Or, perhaps you do have your decorating pretty much done, but are still looking for a fresh idea or two. Here are some holiday tips and tricks of the trade!

  • First, start with the entryway.  The foyer, if you have one, sets the stage—make it amazing!
  • Then concentrate on the living room, kitchen, and dining room. While this isn’t to say your other spaces can’t be spiced up and decorated, these main spaces are likely where most of the holiday hosting will take place.
  • Accessories are the jewelry of your interior decorating, even more so during the holidays.
  • Ornaments aren’t just for the tree.  A simple holiday accent can be created by placing ornaments in a crystal bowl or glass urn.  Plain glass bulbs can even be used as table place cards when you write each guest’s name on them with a Sharpie.
  • Real or battery operated lights can add a wonderful soft glow to your space that will create a warm, cozy feeling.  Buy them by the boxful in a variety of shapes and sizes.  Group them together on a tray and you will set a celebratory tone.
  • Mirrors, picture frames, and metallic vases will help your room sparkle and shine.  Don’t be afraid to mix it up with a variety of metals.

We wish you a happy, healthy, and joyful holiday season!
